Leading Sectors: Retail, Homebuilders, Cloud Software
- ① Retail took the lead. XRT rose +3.68% and is up +4.66% over five sessions. Online sellers, apparel brands, and department stores rose together. A strong sales report and falling yields help all of them at once.
- ② Homebuilders followed. ITB rose +4.03%, but it still trades below its 1-month, 1-quarter, and 1-year averages. Lower rates help buyers afford homes. One day of falling yields has not repaired the trend yet.
- ③ Chips and energy took the hit. TSMC reported a record quarterly profit, and its US shares still fell -1.80%. Nvidia lost -1.84%, AMD -1.50%, and Vertiv -3.63%. SOXX fell -0.91% and is down -8.62% over five sessions. Exxon Mobil lost -1.32% and Chevron -1.22% even as crude rose. Tanker owners fell hard. Frontline lost -6.63%, DHT Holdings -6.09%, and International Seaways -4.74%.
- ④ The last report covered the October 14 close. Its three picks, measured from that close to Thursday's: McKesson +2.26%, Humana +1.12%, and United Natural Foods +1.22%. The S&P 500 rose +0.33% over the same session. All three beat the index. McKesson closed at $998.64, above its $995.69 checkpoint, for a new one-year closing high. Humana closed at $432.20, just short of $433.50. United Natural Foods held $45.79 at $48.26. Recorded as is.

The Etsy stock forecast depends on whether the breakout holds until then.
Bath & Body Works (BBWI) — 1-Month RS 98: Margins Over Sales

| RS 1D | RS 5D | RS 1M | 1M Return | Held By |
| 99 | 99 | 98 | +22.2% | SPDR S&P Retail |
- Up +7.86% to $20.44, and +15.42% over five sessions. It was the biggest gain of the three. The stock is still about 24% below its one-year closing high of $27.05 from October 2025. Operating income rose +37.6% to $216 million from $157 million. Net income nearly doubled to $118 million from $64 million. The company raised its full-year earnings outlook while still guiding to lower sales. The Bath & Body Works stock forecast hinges on whether profit can keep rising while sales shrink.
Ollie's (OLLI) — 1-Month RS 99: An Upgrade and a Buyback

| RS 1D | RS 5D | RS 1M | 1M Return | Held By |
| 71 | 98 | 99 | +30.5% | SPDR S&P Retail |
- Up +2.61% to $95.56, and +10.20% over five sessions. Ollie's Bargain Outlet sells brand-name closeout goods at discount prices. The Ollie's stock forecast depends on whether the rally holds after the upgrade.
Etsy · Bath & Body Works · Ollie's Stock Forecast Checkpoints
· Etsy stock forecast — The stock just cleared its old high. Watch whether it holds above $87.03, the August 24 closing high. Falling back below it would cancel the breakout.
· Bath & Body Works stock forecast — The stock is up +15.42% in five sessions. Watch whether it holds above $18.95, Wednesday's close. Losing that level would erase Thursday's jump.
· Ollie's stock forecast — The stock is up +10.20% in five sessions. Watch whether it holds above $88.33, Tuesday's close. A drop below it would undo most of the week's gain.
What to Watch on Next Week's Calendar
- NAHB housing index and September housing starts, Monday October 19 (11:00 p.m. KST) and Tuesday October 20 (9:30 p.m. KST). ITB jumped +4.03% on hopes for lower mortgage rates. Builder sentiment and new construction will show whether demand is following yields.
- Meta and Tesla results, Thursday October 22 (5:00 a.m. KST). Lam Research, Texas Instruments, and IBM report at the same time. SOXX is down -8.62% in five sessions, and these reports will test whether AI spending still supports chip stocks.
- Newmont results, Friday October 23 (5:00 a.m. KST). Western Digital reports at the same time. GDX ranks only 16 on the sheet despite Thursday's bounce. The largest gold miner's costs and output will show whether the miners can follow gold higher.
